Vegas Happenings for 4/13/23
Highly Anticipated Disney Animation: Immersive Experience Opens in Las Vegas
On Thursday evening, March 29, I along with select members of the media were invited to a sneak peak of Disney Animation: Immersive Experience, a one-of-a-kind immersive experience that opened to the public at Lighthouse ArtSpace Las Vegas (at The Shops at Crystals, 3720 S Las Vegas Blvd.,) on March 30. The project is the result of a brilliant, artistic collaboration between Walt Disney Animation Studios and Lighthouse Immersive Studios, the producers of the blockbuster Immersive Van Gogh, which recently ended a successful run in the same space.
For nearly a century Walt Disney Animation Studios has created iconic animated stories for all ages and now they have partnered with North America’s top creator of experiential projection exhibitions to present the music and artistry within Disney Animation’s archive of films—from recent hits like Encanto, Zootopia and Frozen, to all of the classics including The Lion King, Peter Pan and Pinocchio. And, for the first time, the public will get to see clips from Under The Sea in a manner they have never experienced.
As soon as you enter this magical, 360 immersive environment you will feel like you are swept into the incredible worlds of beloved Disney characters that are brought to life from the projected animated videos surrounding the room from floor to ceiling. Additional interactive features include responsive projection design that moves with the audience and custom wristbands that light up in sync with the projections and based on the audiences’ movements through the galleries. For example, animated stars are projected on the ground below your feet and for each step you take the stars move forward along your path. Guests will also enjoy a show stopping surprise that comes in the form of thousands of cascading bubbles that descend from the ceiling throughout the gallery that replicate the images projected on the screen.
On hand for the special sneak peak was Oscar®-winning producer J. Miles Dale (Best Picture 2018 -The Shape of Water) leader of the creative team for the Disney Animation: Immersive Experience, who said ‘Families can enjoy this together as it expresses dreaming, hoping and wishing.”
Lighthouse Immersive founder Corey Ross has described this immersive experience perfectly: “Just imagine journeying through Zootopia with Judy Hopps, diving to the ocean floor with Ariel, flying on a magic carpet with Aladdin, and stepping into Casita with Mirabel and the family Madrigal. This is where the Disney Animation: Immersive Experience will take you.”
For anyone who is a Disney fan and families of all ages, this is a must see experience.
Tickets to the family friendly Disney Animation: Immersive Experience start at $39.99.
